Bronze Memorial Plaque to the Late PC George Gutteridge
Following the full support of the community of Stapleford Abbotts and the Parochial Church Council of St Mary's a memorial plaque was commissioned.
As PC 'Bill Gutteridge was originally from Norfolk it was appropriate that a specialist memorial foundry
in the county was appointed to cast this.
The Anglia Casting Company in Horsford, Norwich produced a fine piece of work and without prompt have provided a photographic record of the production of this memorial to add to the already rich base of local history of Stapleford Abbotts.
The plaque now adorns the North Wall of St. Mary's Church and was officially unveiled by retired Essex Police Inspector as part of the Harvest Festival Open Day Celebrations on the 24th. September 2016 by kind permission of the Rev. Canon Roger Gayler.
I think it is appropriate to offer grateful thanks to the church community, most notably The Rev. Roger Gayler, Jan Singleton and all members of the Parochial Church Council for their support in realising this further and important memorial to a brave guardian of the community of Stapleford Abbotts, PC George William Gutteridge 1889 - 1927.
